TOP STORIES J&K police seized 03 vehicles in Shopian; 2 FIRs registered | KNO Published 1 days ago on August 02, 2026 By News Desk Srinagar, Aug 01 (KNO): Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, J&K Police in Shopian seized three tractors involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from Heerpora and Berthipora areas of the district. During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Heerpora intercepted and seized two tractors involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 72/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Heerpora and investigation has been set into motion. In a similar action, Police party from Police Post Berthipora intercepted and seized one tractor engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without mandatory permission. In this regard FIR No.80/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Keller and further investigation has been initiated. Police reiterates its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining.
